When I got my digital camera - Finepix S 7000 - it was an advanced model. At a time when most cameras had between 3 and 5 megapixels, mine had 6 and could simulate through software interpolation, 12 megapixels.

Now smaller cameras have 12 megapixels and image stabilization as well.
